The Self

Even though, each of us is a unique individual, many of our individual concerns are universal.

1/ Health – which determines a lifespan – has to be everyone’s priority. Health as in maintaining what you’ve got, preventing disease and healthcare. Most people take the path of least resistance and do things the way they were “always” done. Stop for a moment and consider this: for a society to function well a government is a must. What is the role of government? To ensure the most good for the largest number of people. By definition, the government practices horde management. We all benefit from it. It makes sense, if you think in terms of a country. It makes less sense when you think of yourself and your loved ones.

Health is determined by the things we do regularly. One of these things is eating and more importantly, what we eat. Avoid pesticides, food additives, preservatives and processed foods. Eat for good health, energy and vitality. Make deliberate choices. Such approach will help you stay healthy. Don’t follow the beaten path of fast foods and soft drinks.

When you don’t feel well, consider nutraceuticals before pharmaceuticals. Nutraceuticals are safer and often as effective as pharmaceuticals in most non-emergency cases. (The aforementioned does NOT apply to the treatment of Covid-19. Covid-19 is an emergency. Get vaccinated to prevent Coronavirus infection, illness, complications and yes, potentially death.)

2/ Self-management and personal development
It’s not only in the health area that we are vulnerable. Our histories, experiences and influences shaped our view of ourselves and the world. I’m not saying that what you believe about yourself and the world is wrong. I’m simply suggesting that you take another look and ask yourself which of the views you hold dear are actually yours.

You might be more than you think. You might need to do some extra work to become the person you are capable of being. You might need to become more assertive, better informed or more humble to reach your goals… You get the gist.

3/ Once we achieve our goals, many of us long for happiness. Happiness isn’t a mystery or mirage. It’s within your reach because YOU get to create yours.

4/ Once we are healthy, become successful and happy, most of us yearn for significance and validation. These are also achievable and up to you. Significance is a byproduct of the things we do for others…
